I am not one to LOVE toaster pastries… not Pop Tarts, but toaster pastries.
With all of the different kind of “toaster pastry like” foods out there, there is one overall thing that I cannot stand about them, the fact that I pick have to keep picking them out of my teeth.
Upon finding this new flavor while on vacation, I wanted to give them a shot, not because I was dying to try them, or dying to write about it, but because banana bread is a unique flavor that is about 50/50 good to bad, and this could be a re-birth or the death of this flavor to me.
So here we go… Opened the fresh box, grabbed a pack and ripped it open.
**BIIGGG INHALE**
Okayyy… okayyy… This is VERY resembling of banana bread. I am encouraged!
I am not a huge fan of TOASTING these toaster pastries, because I rarely am sitting down to eat them. They are usually an “on the go” snack, if consumed at all.
I toast (1) of the (2) in the pack and it was maybe 15-20 seconds and the whole kitchen smells like banana bread! “2 for 2” I am thinking.
**POP** the toaster goes.
Now, for the moment of truth… TOASTED first!
**SNAP**

WHAT DID I JUST EAT!?!?!?

WOW! Talk about delicious!
Now, we try it without toasting it…

Notice, no crunch, nor snap. And yeah… it was good… but not like what I experienced with the toasted. It was pretty just toaster pastry-esque. A mouth full of chalky, stuck in the teeth, sugary banana bread flavored schtufffff.
RATING TIME!
Taste: 8/10 - I took a couple of points off due to the VAST disparity between toasted and plain. Toasted = RECOMMENDED. Straight out of the package = ehhhhhh pass.
Marketing: 8/10 - Here is a quote from the POP TART website: “Frosted Banana Bread Pop-Tarts® have a great balance of banana flavor and spices to mimic the flavor of banana bread. No baking required!” (Link HERE!) No baking required, but definitely recommended!
Could I eat the serving in one sitting: 1/10 - With a healthy appetite maybe after a killer workout, maybe. But 8 of these in one sitting, probably not.
FINAL RATING: 17/30
Final thoughts: TOASTED is definitely the way to go… Taste is REALLY good. Avoid eating without toasting first!
